Welcome to Mr. Assumpcao's Classroom!
Hello fellow students! I am very excited to be your new teacher this year. There is a lot in mathematics that makes up who I am and I hope you will see and learn mathematics in my classroom in a way that will make your mind stronger. "We use math everyday, to predict the weather, to tell time, to handle money. Math is more than formulas and equations, its logic, its rationality, its using your mind to solve the biggest mysteries we know." (NUMB3RS - TV Show)
This website will help us communicate beyond our classroom involvement.

About Me
My name is David Assumpcao and I am originally from Fortaleza, Brazil (Picture Above). I came to the U.S. in 1997 as a foreign exchange student for my senior year at South O'Brien High School in Paullina, IA. I was born and raised in a city of two million people, so it was a culture shock for me living with an american host family in a small farm town. When I graduated from high school I went to Iowa Lakes Community College where I did all my general education classes such as calculus and physics. I graduated from the community college with an Associates in Science in Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) in 2000. In 2001 I worked as a CAD Drafter for an architect in Cedar Rapids, IA, where I learned most of my abilities to draw buildings for clients. In 2002 I decided to go back to school and finish my education with a Bachellors in Construction Management at Minnesota State University, Mankato, MN. During that time in Mankato, MN, while going to school, I worked part time as a CAD drafter for Paulsen Architects. After graduating in 2003, my wife and I moved to St. Louis, MO, where I worked as a field superintendent for a residential construction company. In 2007 my wife and I moved to Citrus County so my wife could begin her career as a physician assistant. I followed knowing that there would be a place for me to work and make a difference as well. I did find a job working as a field superintendent when I first moved to Citrus County but two years later I got invited to help assist the boys' soccer team at Citurs High School for the 2009-2010 season where I found out how much I enjoyed working with students and became involved as a substitute teacher at CHS. Now I am proud to say that I am officially a Hurricane!
This year will be full of accomplishmets from both myself and my students as we work together to learn not just math but the meaning of how to be a great person for the community.
